So, as I am me, the first thing I wanted to do after falling madly in love wih this show was read fanfic. Sadly, I didn't have all that much luck finding good stuff. It appears that people aren't writing for it and that makes me very, very sad. I did, however, find a few excellent stories and I'm gonna rec them here.

Ok. I surrender. I watched 3 more episodes of Ashes to Ashes last night and I am totally hooked. The costuming, the music, the cinematography, the acting, all fantastic. The writers fascination with being as offensive as possible is still pretty pathetic, but the characters and actors manage to overcome that and be incredibly compelling. I absolutely ADORE the fact that Alex is drunk all the time, and dresses like a tart, and sleeps with random losers, and calls her co-workers "figments", and is so desperate for her mother's approval, and EVERYTHING really. I just love Alex Drake.

I have also discovered that Gene Hunt is a more complex and sympathetic character than he appeared at first glance. He's still a complete fuckstick most of the time, but he's interesting and engaging and has flashes of being a better man. This show totally has me. I mean, shit. I've got an icon already. I think that really says it all.
