Two posts in one day? UNHEARD OF!

But I'm listening to the Companion Chronicle The Suffering with Steven and Vicki and I got to thinking. Whatever happened to Steven Taylor? Was his post-TARDIS fate ever dealt with in any novels or short stories? I always liked him and his life pre-TARDIS was so damn tragic. I'm hoping maybe some writer decided to give him a happily ever after.

Wiki is being no help so I thought I'd ask here. So, flisties. Any novel fans have any insight?

Also? Good CC so far. Steven and Vicki are just adorable.

I am as unhelpful as wiki on that subject, but Steven and Vicki are adorable. I gotta say, Steven on his own has this machismo that irks, but he's decent, and it helps that Vicki is there to pwn him incessantly. How I flailfully adore her. ...I think I just made up a word on her account. What're they doing/saying in the audio?

The best part is the opening of each chapter when they fight about how to tell the story. TOO CUTE. Also? Peter Purves does an adorable First Doctor. This is actual kind of a double CC. It's twice as long as they usual are. I suppose so that Steven and Vicki both get equal time to tell the story. I'm only 1/4 of the way through so it's too early to give a review yet.

HEE! She just told him "He was yelling like a girl" and he got all huffy. HAHAHAHA.

This is the greatest idea I have heard in a while.

It is brilliant, isn't it? I had to stop last night and go to bed and tonight I'm doing taxes, but I'm very much looking forward to finishing.

That it is. I only listened to the first half last night cause I had to go to bed (and decided to let Benny ease me to sleep as she often does <3) but I'll finish it up tonight.

The scene with the Doctor driving the car? Pure comic genius.

One was driving a car? Did anyone die? They all died, didn't they?

Yes. No. But it was a close call. And HILARIOUS. ;-)

Sadly, it seems like there's nothing about Steven post-Savages - his other CC, Mother Russia, is hard to pinpoint chronologically, and as far as I know there's no novels regarding his fate.

Personally, even though I feel there's not enough of Dodo, I wish the powers that be had managed to release Jackie Lane from her contract two episodes earlier, so that she would stay in the planet of the Elders and Savages with Steven. Not only it would have released her from her ignominious departure in The War Machines, but it would have made it a happy ending for the two of them.

GAH! That's incredibly disappointing. You'd think SOMEONE would have touched on it in one of the million or so tie-in novels. ::sigh::

Not only it would have released her from her ignominious departure in The War Machines, but it would have made it a happy ending for the two of them.

You are SOOOOOO right. Also, I do know her fate was dealt with in the novels and it was absurdly tragic. She didn't deserve that kind of ending and staying with Steven would have been so terribly sweet. Awww, man! Now you put this idea in my head and I'm all bitter.

Yeah, I've heard of Who Killed Kennedy? and all the other references to Dodo in the novels, and I refuse to acknowledge them in my personal canon - as far as I'm concerned, a later incarnation of the Doctor will set things right and reunite them again.

YES! This pleases me. I would like to erase it from canon too. The Doctor definitely went back and got her and brought her to Steven. That is now my personal canon. ;-)

I took you off my reading list because you didn't post much and when it was it wasn't about anything I was interested in, so then you go and post something I am interested in! :)

I did love The Suffering, it was great. Although hard not to laugh while I was listening at work and Steven was dressing up a skeleton on the bus.

I know Peter Purves has said on a couple of audios that he likes the idea of Steven becoming a despot. I like the idea that he introduces democracy to them and then gets voted out as leader.

I'm tricksy like that. ;-)

Ohhhhh, now THAT is brilliant! So convinced he knows what's best for them that he undermines everything he was trying to do. I wish someone had written that book.

You never know, given that he's said it at least a couple of times, perhaps some poor writer will take pity on him and write it as an audio or in the Short Trips.

One can only hope. I don't know what the sales are like for the CCs he's done, but I personally find him one of the best actors in that line and would LOOOOOVE to see him come back and do more for BF.

Me too. I loved Peter Purves's story telling. All the episodes he was in that were burnt and he did narrations for I've listened to and I loved his story telling in those too.
