I decided I had to watch Assignment #1 again last night because it was clear I didn't remember a damn thing about it if I couldn't even recall who Lead was. Watching it again, it became clear why I didn't remember it. I didn't really like it much. Sapphire was very different in that serial from who she is in the others and I like her WAY better from Assignment #2 onward. Anyway, that's not the point of this post.

The point of this post is Joanna Lumley. I first became aware of her as Patsy on AbFab. What I didn't realize then was how much of a departure comedy was for her. How much of a re-invention. I never knew she'd started out as a model and an action hottie girl. So seeing her on S&S is so f-ing cool. And it also made me want to hunt down a million pics of her.

So, without further ado, I bring you a giant picspam of Joanna Lumley through the ages.

(Beware. VERY image heavy with large pics.)

(She has aged magnificently. What a strikingly gorgeous woman.)

(I ♥ this pic. So saucy!)

(SO YOUNG!)

(Oh, Patsy.)

(Gorgeous S&S promo shot.)

(Shockingly, I kinda love her more as a blonde. And that's very unusual for me, because I tend to go for the dark-haired ladies.)

(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

(Sheeeeeep!!!)

And finally, another gorgeous shot from Sapphire & Steel:

So, there you have it. Joanna Lumley being a total hotass for DECADES. I don't think it's humanly possible to be any more fabulous than that.

Have to agree here, on both points. Give me brunettes any day, but Lumley has such an unusual bone structure that (a) light hair and her eye color combine to bring it out so very, very nicely, and (b) it didn't really show to her best advantage until she was older. Not, mind you, that there's a single thing wrong with her in her twenties.

Oh, sorry. Was that shallow?

Yes. But in the best possible way. ;-)

And I think you're totally right about why the lighter hair works for her.
