Nothing but memes.

And HAPPY FRIDAY to the rest of the world!
But since I am not doing a damn thing until at least 6pm (oh how I love a good lazy day off), I'm in the mood for yet another meme. Come on, you know they're fun! I snagged this one from
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Pick a fandom (or two) and I'll tell you:
1. The first character I fell in love with.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
8. The character I'd slap.
9. A pairing that I love.
10. A pairing that I hate.
My fandoms are: Doctor Who, Ashes to Ashes, Star Trek:TOS or TNG, Star Wars, Xena, X-files, James Bond, Farscape, Lexx, Torchwood, Heroes, Firefly, BSG, Batman...and anything else you know I've watched.

on 2008-07-04 05:31 pm (UTC)1. The first character I fell in love with.
Zoe. Hot, badass soldier girl who takes absolutely NO shit? It's like catnip to me.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Jayne. I kinda thought he was an asshole for the first couple of eps, and now I would say he's my favorite character. I looooooove him for his unexpected bravery and utter stupidity. The big guns and total hotness don't hurt either.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
Simon. He's alright but I really don't get the Mal/Simon pairing and I don't think Simon is even vaguely attractive.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Is there a character that people hate? I don't think so. So I am gonna go with ship everyone else loves. Mal/Simon. I just don't see it.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
Inara. But that goes back and forth. I started out disliking her, then she grew on me, now I'm back to take-her-or-leave-her.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
Jayne. Zoe. Preferably NOT at the same time because that would be too weird.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
Zoe or Kaylee. Maybe a mix of the two. Zoe for her strength and focus, Kaylee for her optimism and engineering know-how.
8. The character I'd slap.
Mal. I love him to bits, but he needs to REALLY take it down a notch sometimes. Especially when dealing with Inara.
9. A pairing that I love.
Mal/Jayne. It's the most obvious pairing in the entire WORLD to me, yet no one writes it. Boggles my mind.
10. A pairing that I hate.
Canonically? Mal/Inara. I get that they love each other, but watching them do the same dance over and over and over and over...ugh. They need to move on. They will NEVER work.

on 2008-07-04 09:35 pm (UTC)I call Simon my favorite, but I pretty much just love everybody but Jayne. And lotsa people seem to love Jayne, but oh dear god. =(
And I kinda agree about Mal/Inara. I actually do sorta like them and think they *could've* worked if the "dance" hadn't taken quite so long, but at this point they've sort of beaten it into the ground and I can't see it actually coming together.

on 2008-07-05 09:27 pm (UTC)Oh, HELL yes. That's most of the slash, right there.
but at this point they've sort of beaten it into the ground and I can't see it actually coming together.
Yeah. It's too late now for them. And it's a shame because they probably could have been good together.

on 2008-07-04 05:42 pm (UTC)The Ninth Doctor. He was the first Doctor I ever saw, and I was already in love with Chris Eccleston. When I saw Rose I think I nearly died. I fell so hard it was like being struck by lightning. But the character that made me become an old Skool fan was the Second Doctor. Troughton is the greatest Doctor of them all.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Here's a weird answer for you. Benton! He's such a side character, but I adore him in ways that are practically absurd. I always expected to love the Companions, but my Benton love was a complete surprise.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
The Fourth Doctor. (I bet you thought i was gonna say Ten, didn't you? I don't love him either, but I think the Fourth Doctor is more generally adored). Baker bothers me. I have a lot of trouble seeing him as the Doctor.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Well, people hate on Jo Grant and I adore her. Absolutely adore her.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
Rose. And that makes me SO SO SO SO sad. I still like her, but the love is gone. I blame fandom for that. And Tennant.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
The Doctor! Any incarnation. Even Four and Ten (because I could always just close my eyes and pretend they were Six.) \o/
7. The character I'd want to be like.
Liz Shaw or Zoe or Evelyn or Sarah Jane or...
8. The character I'd slap.
MIKE FUCKING YATES. Dude, I hate that insufferable twit.
9. A pairing that I love.
Are you kidding me? There is a long list. Two/Jamie, Three/Master, Three/Jo, Liz/Brig, Romana/Leela, Five/Nyssa, Six/Donna, Seven/Ace, Nine/Rose/Jack, the list goes on and on and on.
10. A pairing that I hate.
Ten/Rose. Was that ever in doubt?

on 2008-07-04 05:51 pm (UTC)1. The first character I fell in love with.
Kirk. Absolutely Kirk. When I was little, my mom used to let me stay up extra late (if I was good) to watch the reruns before bed. Kirk was like a god.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Chekov. I always thought he was sweet, but now I adore him.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
Hmmm...can I go with species instead? People friggin' WORSHIP the Klingons. Mostly, they annoy me. They were certainly better in TOS than they ever were again, but they were massively overused. I got very sick of them.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Well, I can't say everyone hates, but my mom does. She haaaates Sulu. She felt unbelievably betrayed when he left the Enterprise to become captain of the Excelsior and she has never, ever forgiven him. (My mom can hold a grudge like you wouldn't believe). I totally love him, but I don't like to bring it up in front of her. ;-)
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
No such thing. My love for the crew of the USS Enterprise is a life-long love that shall never wane.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
Kirk. No question.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
Uhura, maybe? I have trouble looking to men as role models. And she was a trailblazer.
8. The character I'd slap.
Sulu. For breaking my mother's heart. ;-)
9. A pairing that I love.
Kirk/Spock. The original, the best.
10. A pairing that I hate.
I don't think I hate any pairing. Every character in every ST series should be shagging every other character. That's what IDIC is all about. \o/

on 2008-07-04 06:30 pm (UTC)1. The first character I fell in love with.
Alex Drake. I love her to a degree that is unholy. I loved her immediately and I love her passionately. She makes me swoon.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Gene Hunt. I watched the 5th episode first and then the premiere. I thought he was absolutely disgusting and couldn't even begin to grasp the fandom love for him (via LoM). Then...everything changed. By the 4th episode, I was hooked.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
I don't dislike any of the characters, but I'd say Raymondo is my least favorite. I get that a lot of love for him comes from LoM, but I haven't seen that show and I think he can be an absolute bastard sometimes.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Hmmm. Alex, I guess. There seems to be a lot of negativity toward her in LoM fandom and in the british press and I just don't get it. I would fly her to California so I could marry her.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
I got nothin. The show is only 8 eps so far. Not enough time to fall out of love with anyone.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
This is getting to be a broken record. I'll give you three guesses and the first 2 don't count.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
None of them. No way. They are all fucked up.
8. The character I'd slap.
Ray. When he says something particularly ignorant.
9. A pairing that I love.
Alex/Gene. Despite myself, I totally ship them. He's not good enough for her, but he knows it and that makes him awesome.
10. A pairing that I hate.
None. Though I am slightly creeped out by the idea of Alex/Evan. But then again, I'm also intruiged by it because I am a sick fuck. So...

on 2008-07-05 05:01 pm (UTC)Oh, and Ray was pretty much equally a bastard on LoM. Even more so, actually.

on 2008-07-05 09:27 pm (UTC)Seriously?!?!? Then what's with all the Ray-love? I'm so confused!

on 2008-07-05 09:40 pm (UTC)1. The first character I fell in love with.
Xena. Without a doubt. I fell in love with her IMMEDIATELY. To this day I still think she is one of the most complex, fascinating female characters of all time.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Gabrielle. In the begining I couldn't understand why Xena loved her so much and put up with so much of her shit. But as the series went on, I got it.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
JOXER. I loooooooooooooathe Joxer. The idea of Joxer/Gabrielle makes me gag. And maybe want to kill people. He is the most obnoxious shit of a badly acted character I can ever imagine and each time he appeared on screen I died a little inside. (Yeah, I know that's pretty extreme, but I can't overstate my loathing for him.)
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Hmmmm. I'm not sure what character other people hate. I love Autolycus quite a bit and I know some people thought he was too smarmy. I also really love Borias. His death scene where Xena betrays him and he never gets to see his child...broke my heart, man.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
I don't think I fell out of love with any of the characters.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
Xena. Ares. Lao Ma. Callisto. Cyan...
7. The character I'd want to be like.
Oh, boy. That's a tough one. All of the characters were pretty messed up. I'd say maybe some combination of Lao Ma and Ephiny. I admired their strength.
8. The character I'd slap.
Joxer. With a 2x4.
9. A pairing that I love.
Xena/Gabrielle. They were perfect together.
10. A pairing that I hate.
Joxer/Gabrielle. I think I pretty well covered my feelings on that one earlier. ;-)

on 2008-07-06 02:16 am (UTC)LOL @ your answer to #3. Joxer was suuuucch a lameass. People love him? I know nothing about the Xena fandom, but I always assumed that most fans could have done with less of him and his 'comic relief'. I mean, I thought Joxer sucked even when I was 12.
That is so cool that your cat is called Callisto! She was one of my favourite characters. I had the hugest crush on her, too.
It's fun to play "spot the Kiwi actor" with Xena, too. I can't see Karl Urban in anything without thinking of Julius Caesar or Cupid.

on 2008-07-06 02:41 am (UTC)YES! And they are all clearly insane. Xena was one of my first online fandoms and holy hell, that shit was crazy. This was back in the day of usenet and mailing lists and there was SO MUCH WANK. All the homophobes who refused to see Xena/Gabrielle and the angry responses from the X/G fans, newgroups created and destroyed, people just generally freaking out after every episode. Looking back, I think that fandom helped make me the wank-averse fan I am today. I didn't know any better back then. ;-)

Ha! I just recently watched Chronicles of Riddick again and it cracked me up. Like you, I'll never be able to stop seeing him with wings.

on 2008-07-06 02:51 am (UTC)Wow, I had no idea that Joxer was so well-liked. And even a blind person could see Gabrielle/Xena! That went so far further than just subtext.
I'd love to look up some Xena fanfiction and that but I'm now slightly scared of the fandom.

are you planning to post on Journey's End?

I'm actually pretty excited about it, to be honest. I kind of enjoy wanksplosions when I am not an active participant. Especially when they end up on fandom wank, because that place is utterly hilarious.
