Happy tears, though because OH MY FUCKING GOD love-letter to classic Who. Jo and Sarah Jane could not have been more adorable and holy hell they were pretty much shipping themselves. And then all the companion shout-outs and I was all blubbery with love. Oh SHOW. Oh, Doctor. I just want to smooch every single one of them right now.

ETA: I forgot to mention, the Evil UNIT chick? Woweeee, is that actress stunningly gorgeous. Good grief! Also, even knowing that those giant vultures were talking a bunch of shit, I got choked up when they said the Doctor was dead. NO KILLING THE DOCTOR! NOT EVEN PRETEND KILLING!

YES! I WAS RIDICULOUS! I cried and was just feeling so much love it was crazy. And personally, I'm convinced "Dorothy Something" is Dodo because I honestly don't believe Ace would ever have returned to Earth to settle down. Especially not in the 21st century.\

YAY! I am very very happy that it's not just me thinking Dodo! Yeah. I'm pretty sure she mentioned Ian and Barbara (I also went a bit nutso), Harry, Dorothy Somebody, Tegan, and Polly and Ben. I think that's it? And then, of course, there's Liz Shaw on the moon (EEEEEEEEE!).

It was pretty thoughtful of him to have written "Dorothy something," because it could be a reference to either one of them, and/or to Ace's lack of a TV-given last name.

Yeah, I think a lot of people have taken the liberty of deciding it's Dodo on the grounds that Ace would be doing more aggressive things.

BEN AND POLLY ARE (AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE) RUNNING AN ORPHANAGE IN INDIA. I can just imagine them getting in on the late sixties visit-to-India trend and just deciding to stay there.

I'm afraid it's really Ace and not Dodo. It would have made more sense for me to be Dodo, because running this sort of thing is something I imagine her doing, but the fact that her company is called A Charitable Earth must be RTD throwing us a clue. (Plus, Sarah clearly said "Dorothy" and not "Dorothea".)

Well, whenever I heard the name the pronunciation sounded very different - both Dodo and the Doctor say it at different points in The Massacre, and it's clear in both cases that the final a is not silent.

Ahh, I haven't seen/heard any of the episodes in which her whole name is said. (Though, I suppose if one really wanted to stretch it, they could say Sarah could be assuming a pronunciation based on reading the name off a screen.)

Yes, it's still open to that interpretation, happily. I do want to think Dodo is happy and well and living that sort of life. :) The way Sarah learned of all those companions also still makes it possible that my theory of Ben and Polly being Maria's grandparents is still doable without her having put two and two together yet.
