So, my most beloved [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf and I were talking last night about hot older dudes. We were saying how it isn't really a daddy kink so much as loving the authoritative older man in charge. More a Sir kink. We're talking about characters like John Winchester, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Jean-Luc Picard (and I'd most certainly include Delgado!Master but sadly my darling friend isn't much of a Who fan).

ANYWAY, the conversation then moved on to the fact that this isn't just about male characters. That there are also tough older women in charge characters that would fit the bill. The ones we came up with were Ellen Harvelle and Kathryn Janeway (and I'd add M, but then I do love me some Dame Judi Dench).

THERE HAVE GOT TO BE MORE!

Come on, flist. Help me out here. Can you name me some more women who would fit into a Sir-Kink category. Older women whose orders you would want to follow without hesitation because...HELL YES, MA'AM!

Romana - I or II - without a doubt...

And Sarah Jane Smith...

I don't consider Romana old enough to fit this bill, not even when she becomes President. But maybe current day Sarah. I shall consider this.

Um, Romana states she's over 100 in the very first KtT story. How can she *not* fit the bill if Sarah Jane does?

Because the actresses were young. You don't look at Romana and says "wow! Hot older woman!" You do when you look at Elisabeth Sladen.

I might but Barbara Wright in this category too. I'd have let her take charge of me. ;-)

Sorry, I thought you were talking about older characters, not older actors...

what about romana in the gallifrey series, since she is older and is being played by older lalla ward?

and i don't think alex kingston is particularly old, but river definitely makes me want to say, "YES MA'AM!" when i watch SitL/FotD.

I know she's a baddie, but Yvonne Hartman could definitely pull it off. And there are two that I can think of from the audios (obv. I have no idea about the hotness factor), Beldonia from Bride of Peladon, and Frau Tod from The Beast of Orlok. They're all one-offs, though.

Damn the one-offs! There have GOT to be more hot older women with that kind of authoritative charisma we're looking for.

So much yes to everyone you've already listed!

Also, Minerva McGonagall! And Harriet Jones? And generally anyone played by Maggie Smith, Susan Sarandon, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Wannamaker or Celia Imrie. ;D

Edit: And speaking of Star Trek, Dr Pulaski! And I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting...

I came here to mention Laura Roslin and both CJ and Abbey from TWW, but got beaten to it!

...this should not be as hard as it is. Kay Howard from Homicide, maybe. Kinda obscure, but Emma Leroy from Corner Gas almost fits the bill. ;) And I haven't watched House in ages, but I suppose... Cuddy? I really feel like I'm forgetting someone obvious.

Personal-canon-wise, Mrs. Hudson was totally running the show and letting Holmes and Watson take all the credit.

I don't really have any suggestion, I'm just astonished that just yesterday I was shocked to realize that I maybe sort of might fancy Judy Dench as M. Thank God it's not just me.

Lindsay Duncan. She was just in Waters of Mars, but especially as Servilia in Rome. Jane Asher, she just played a fiction version of the Queen of England in The Palace. Maybe Sigourney Weaver. I just saw her in AVATAR and, yes. That is some fine 60 year old woman.

Ugh, there's another one but I can't remember the actresses name now...

I see Laura Roslin has already been mentioned. So, hot middleaged or older women:

Irina Derevko from Alias. Portrayed by the gorgeous Lena Olin. Ditto her sister Katya (Isabella Rosellini.)

Still Alias: Emily Sloane (Amy Irving). (Say what you want about JJ Abrams, he was and is great giving actresses over 40 AND over 50 good roles.)

Danielle Rousseau from Lost. (Mira Furlan)

Any role played by Susan Sarandon in the last 20 years (as she's over 60 now.)

Ditto Sigourney Weaver (anything from Ripley 8 in Alien: Resurrection via Gwen de Marco in Galaxy Quest to more recent ouevres.)

Ditto Helen Mirren (standouts include DCI Tennison and Elizabeth I).

Not sure about tv roles, but I saw Harriet Walter as Cleopatra with Patrick Stewart as Antony three years ago in Antony and Cleopatra, and she was awesome (and very hot).
