You know, it's funny when I read about it, and I love, love, love that Gates seems to give a crap about actually important issues and is putting his money and his technology to good use.
But had I been there, in that room, when he let the mosquitoes loose, all the good intentions in the world would probably not have stopped me from killing him. >:(
Agreed. TOTALLY agreed. It's such an incredibly dickish move and the only reason I laugh so hard is because of WHO was in the room. And that makes me a complete asshole, but so be it. "There is no reason only poor people should be infected" is one of the greatest lines ever.
Oh, it's an awesome line. And the whole stunt definitely falls under "this is really funny because it's not happening to me". But he certainly got his point across.
You know, I read the headline "Bill Gates releases swarm of mosquitoes at conference," and thought, "Did yahoo steal from The Onion by mistake?" This was, of course, after this morning's "Road signs warn of zombies," story.
The zombie signs! I saw that and was so f-ing bitter that I didn't get the chance to see any of those. Although I probably would have been laughing so hard I'd have crashed the car. Sometimes people are seriously hilarious.
Me, I'd have been making sure my crowbar was handy and looking for an alternate route! You gotta take these zombie apocalypses seriously if you intend to survive.
