Auntie Em! Auntie Em!
Dec. 31st, 2008 10:46 amI just experienced the most insane weather event of my entire life. The whole way to the metro, there were wind gusts of up to 50 mph. That was freaky enough for DC, but the sun was out so I figured it was just an unusually windy day. I get to my stop and start walking to work, where I run into a friend of mine. All of a sudden, the sky turned black and tiny ice pellets started falling. They were blowing so hard that it was like being sandblasted. We couldn't move forward, people across the street were blown into a chainlink fence, it was UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE. There were a few seconds where I was blown so hard, and it was so painful, I thought I was going to be knocked to the ground.
I think that must be what being in a hurricane feels like.
My friend and I finally made it into the building and all these people were standing in the lobby with shocked looks. We were SOAKED. And then, while we were standing there, the sky turned blue again.
It's the end of the fucking world.
