The Great Space Elevator
Sep. 3rd, 2008 09:43 pmBig Finish finally let me download the latest companion chronicle and it was Two and Jamie and Victoria and made of JOY!!!!!!!
That was splendid. Absolutely splendid. Deborah Watling doesn't sound anything like she did when she played Victoria, but it didn't matter one bit. Neither did the fact that she didn't try to imitate Pat and Fraser's voices. The writing was FABULOUS. It was perfectly, perfectly Second Doctor era from start to finish (unlike Fear of the Daleks which I found disappointing because it didn't really capture that era at all). It's a simple base-under-siege story complete with attacking foam and mind-controlling aliens, and the characters are written exactly right. I found myself listening to it with a grin on my face the entire time. I am so, so, so, so pleased about this one. Sweet and funny and warm and made of everything that I adore about Two. The love that he had for Victoria and Jamie is SO clear and the lines were spot-on. HIGHLY recommended.
This is two winners in a row. Well done, BF!!!
