So, as I am me, the first thing I wanted to do after falling madly in love wih this show was read fanfic. Sadly, I didn't have all that much luck finding good stuff. It appears that people aren't writing for it and that makes me very, very sad. I did, however, find a few excellent stories and I'm gonna rec them here.

One Flash of Light but No Smoking Pistol by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch (Alex/Gene, PG-13)

Sweet Little Pills by [livejournal.com profile] fated_addiction (Alex/Gene, PG-13)

A Horizontal Thread by [livejournal.com profile] ms_smilla (Alex/Gene, G)

This Means Nothing to Me by [livejournal.com profile] flecalicious (Alex/Gene, G)

And with these last two, PLEASE don't be put off by the fact that they are on ff.net. This author has Gene's voice down amazingly well and both of these stories are really dark and bitter. I enjoyed the hell out of them.

All the Madmen by Ruby Scott (Alex/Gene, R-ish)

Satin and Tat by Ruby Scott (Alex/Gene, PG-13)

If any of you know of some other well written Ashes to Ashes fic, PLEASE SHARE!!!

I agree with every single thing you've said, and I will go read that x-over fic post-haste. I would KILLLLLLL for some good Alex/Gene. Something above a PG-13 rating would put me over the moon. But for real, after 3 days of searching every place I could think of, these were the only good stories I could find. And I would never have even THOUGHT to read anything on ff.net if I wasn't desperate. Shockingly, that one author wrote good shit but I can't understand why anyone with actual talent would post their fic there. It seems wrong.

But you want to know how desperate I was? I followed every single A2A fic link on [livejournal.com profile] mars_daily from the date the show premiered. These were all I could find worth reading. I could cry. I also sorta want to scrub my brain now because good GOD some of that shit was horrendous. I just don't get it. This show is mother f-ing PHENOMINAL and Alex/Gene have an absurd amount of chemistry. Why aren't people writing for them? I hate acting like an entitled fanbrat, demanding people write fic I want, but shit, Liv. I'd take ANY good A2A fic. Gen, slash, het, whatever. It makes me sad.

I'd kill for good Alex/Gene too, preferably HOT. But, man, you went hardcore on the searching. That makes me kinda sad cos now I know it's not just that I couldn't find it...

No one writes for A2A, we came to that conclusion a while ago. I know my problem is how the fuck to write Gene, he's a bastard of a character to get into voice for. Alex too, even, and the era - and the show is so aggressively British, in a good way for a show but damn hard for non-Brits, not from the time period, to write. I have opined that if any of us started writing good Alex/Gene we could become A2A BNFs like that. ;)

Ha! Truer words. And I can completely understand that Gene would be a hard character to write for, but do people not write from his POV in LoM? Or is there a serious shortage of good fic in that fandom too? I mean I know that Sam is the main focus of the fandom love (or at least he seems to be), but still. Maybe with the second series people will get more involved and inspired to write, but that is SO FAR AWAY. I need the fic now. Tiny fandoms suck. REALLLY suck.
