Here's a lovely update on all the things going on in my life right now, both the exciting and the banal. Wheeee!

The most best exciting bit is that I am leaving for a trip to Cambodia and Laos in less than 2 weeks. I am so thrilled I almost can't stand it. It's one of those places I've always wanted to go and when I was in Vietnam a couple of years ago we tried to do a side trip to Siem Reap but couldn't quite fit it in. So this time it's all Cambodia (hopefully with a side trip to Luang Prubang, Laos if we can work out the flight).

The slight snag in all this is my guts. They have been acting up again something fierce so I had to have ANOTHER colonoscopy yesterday, 2nd in 2 years and really, it's not fun enough to warrant the repeats. The prep is horrendous and the actual main event isn't that delightful either. Way too much plastic tubing and things being stuck in me. And what is it with anesthesiologists? Do they get a special lesson in med school on how to be douchey? It's like they are caricatures of arrogant, golf-playing, country club medicos. My genius guy yesterday thought it was a funny little piece of trivia that the drug he was about to give me was the same one that killed Michael Jackson. Yeah. Barrel of laughs, that one.

Hmmmm...what else? TELLY! I've watched an insane amount of telly the last few weeks. I saw Inside Men which was quite good with amazing performances but with an ending I think was a bit TOO unresolved. What I found kind of charming was how the creators had pretty much hijacked the entire cast of Luther to be in it. Not to mention Nicola Walker and her smile that could light the world. And I gotta tell you, Kierston Wareing is a WAAAAAAAY better actress than I thought she'd be given her...well, given the way she looks. Seriously, though. She was amazing in Inside Men and she was also great in The Shadow Line which was SOOOOO complex and had a cast of thousands and I ended up watching in one go. All seven episodes. I looooooooooooooooooooved it. Well, I loved everything about it but the last 2 scenes. I honestly think if they had swapped those it would have ended on a much more powerful note. But I couldn't recommend it more highly.

I also watched Marchlands which was delightful. A bit creepy, a bit excellent. I actually watched it twice which is a pretty big indicator of my enjoyment levels on that (and I didn't ONLY enjoy it because of Alex Kingston.) Via Marchlands I discovered the absolutely STUNNING Shelley Conn and then a quick tumblr search showed me that she had some hot lesbian scenes with Anna Torv in Mistresses so I watched the first series of that. And considering it had Sarah Parish, Raza Jaffrey, Max Brown, and Shelley Conn and Anna Torv in gorgeous sex scenes, I can't believe how much I wanted to knock myself unconscious by the second ep. What a god awful show. Holy CRAP is it melodramatic and awful. What a waste of talent.

Finally, I watched a couple of episode of Accused and Chris Eccleston was his usual mindblowingly amazing self. I also watched the ep with Peter Capaldi who absolutely broke my heart. I'm forcing myself to watch PramFace because I love Anna Chancellor so much (don't worry, I ffwd to her scenes and avoid the rest) and Upstairs Downstairs has me shipping Blanche/Agnes so hard I can't see straight.

So, there you go. Massive post of a whole lotta nuthin'. <3

ETA. I forgot I also finally watched The Borgias and I can't stop thinking about it now. I want to wear those dresses and do my hair with one of those snoods with the pearls and I want it to come back for a second series ASAP. Good shit. Dirty bad wrong and delicious in its potential incestuousness, general lewdness, and perfectly bad ass female characters.
