Dude. If this results in wank, I am SO blaming you. ;-)

(1) Although I agree that the Doctor loves all of his companions, I think each incarnation has ONE companion that he loves the most. Not necessarily in a romantic sense, just that there is one person for each incarnation that he just clicks with, that he's the most himself with, and that he, therefore, cares for the most. Here's my personal breakdown:
One - Susan (obv)
Two - Jamie
Three - Jo
Four - Romana
Five - Nyssa
Six - Evelyn
Seven - Ace
Eight - Charley (although the Fitz people will, of course, disagree with me on that one)
Nine - Rose (again, obv)
Ten - Donna

(2) I think Tom Baker and David Tennant are the weakest Doctors of them all, mostly because I think they both bought into their own hype. I will never understand the fandom adoration of them.

(3) I think that Nine was utterly obsessed with Rose because she gave him a reason to keep going after the Time War. I don't, however, think that Ten felt anywhere near that same level of love. Once he regenerated, they no longer fit together and he couldn't look to her for meaning anymore. Hence the downward spiral in S2 and his eventual genocide/suicide bullshit in The Runaway Bride.

(4) I loathe Davros. I think he is the worst big bad in all the whoniverse and I am SO pissed they are bringing him back again. I think he sucks, his voice makes me want to stab my own eardrums, and I want him DEAD DEAD DEAD.

(Oh, and a bonus Torchwood opinion, just because I feel like it. I think Jack/Ianto is a ridiculous pairing because I can't imagine someone like Jack giving a shit about someone like Ianto beyond a convenient shag. Love? Please.)

Anyway, no big deal. I did the exact same thing to someone recently with a casting spoiler that had been so widely discussed that I didn't realize there were still people who didn't know.

I think I love you. I have never been able to buy this pairing as more than convenience on both their parts. I generally think Ianto is involved with Jack because he thinks it's what Jack wants and Jack is involved because the guy is there, willing and looks good in a suit.

Damn straight. All the lovey-dovey OTP fanfic about them is unbelievably bizarre to me because I just don't see it on screen and I can't for the life of me make it mesh with the characters as they've been portrayed.

Me neither. It's just not my cuppa. I mean I am not one of those fans that thinks people should be writing only things that I personally agree with, so I just avoid and once in a while shake my head in confusion. That's not to say I haven't read some really brilliant Jack/Ianto fic, cause I have. It's just the OTP kinda stuff that boggles.

It's bizarre to me, and I find the pairing much more plausible than you do. I think Ianto does love Jack, and although Jack doesn't fully reciprocate, I think he does care about Ianto. But there's no justification for all the fic where they're each other's True Soulbonded Love and they'll be perfectly happy together forever (with babies!).

I pretty much agree with your take on their relationship entirely. I think Ianto is infatuated with Jack (and maybe even loves him), but the OTP stuff? I mean I know people dig it, and more power to them. I just don't see it at ALL and it goes against everything I love about the character of Captain Jack Harkness.

Sorry to jump in. I think you're absolutely right here. The fandom is all over truelove!Jack/Ianto, but ... no. Just no.

I can sort of understand the appeal - he's a bit of a blank slate, so it's easy to project anything on to him. I can't quite understand the level of obsessed devotion though. He's such a non-entity in canon, but you'd think it was called The Ianto and Jack Love Hour by looking at fandom.

I disagree about Nyssa, but the rest seems pretty logical. Though I'd say Peri for Six, since I don't know Evelyn.

I do like Tom Baker a lot, but I agree both he and Tennant are far over rated.

I agree completely about Nine and Rose vs. Ten and Rose.

And, as for the TW one, ha. I think it's a crap pairing because I think Ianto is about ten billion times better than Jack. :P

I just hate Jack and I think that people underestimate Ianto. Not that I have any particular hardon for Ianto, but people who think that Jack is too good for Ianto piss me off. It's like the Doctor saying he only takes the best, when he clearly doesn't, because he took Tegan and Sarah Jane, both who wandered into his TARDIS and weren't invited. It just angers me, I guess. JACK IS JUST NOT THAT GREAT, I guess. He's sort of a complete asshole, in fact. :/ I don't have any particular love for Ianto (and I'd happily have him die to get back Owen), but it really bothers me when people pull this "one half of a pairing isn't worthy of the other half" sort of thing. It's just not true. I also think Jack would resent that if he heard someone say it, and that he'd not be with Ianto if he believed it.

AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE TORCHWOOD OR JACK/IANTO OR ANYTHING. GOD. AKR$JYAOER$JOH3jerehahfh sorry.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. I getcha. But that's not my problem with Jack/Ianto at ALL. I think Jack is a complete man-whore who has now lived for hundreds of years and I can't imagine why in the hell anyone watching this show thinks he is all of sudden gonna fall in love and want to settle down forever and ever and make assbabies or some shit. Dude. Jack doesn't love ANYONE but himself. He's fucking Ianto because Ianto is available and I guess some people think he's hot (I don't). They are NOT an OTP. I don't think Jack has any idea how to be monogomous or why anyone would WANT to be. (But I also think Ianto has no personality and is incredibly boring. But we'll leave that part out for now because I was doing so well with the whole "agreeing with you" thing.)

Ugh, TOTALLY. I think I pretty much hate that crap for ANY pairing, but I've been seeing so much of it for Jack/Ianto recently that they are the ones who fell victim to my rage.

I saw the first episode and didn't care much for it.

I didn't either, actually. I've learned from bitter experience never to watch a new show from the begining because pilots sometimes suck even when a show turns out to be awesome. I actually watched the fifth episode first and was intrigued enough to go back and watch more. The first episode was a bit weak, but good GOD did it ever get better. I guess I'm gonna go back and watch Life on Mars next, but I suspect I won't love it as much because it hasn't got the things I love most about A2A. Namely Keeley Hawes, the 80s, and a female lead.

Now, my love, I must sleep. What the hell am I even doing UP at this hour?!

Yeah. It makes sense that if you see it more you'd hate it more. I don't look at TW anything so it doesn't bother me, but if I wanted realistic J/I it would.

And that's probably the problem with me for A2A. It didn't have Sam, so I just couldn't make myself care that much. I have the rest of it, and it's only eight episodes, so I will probably watch it. She just didn't appeal to me from the start and I missed Sam and Annie and. I dunno. I like the 70s a lot more than the 80s. XD
