Should I call you "John"?

I am absurdly in love with D.I. Menzies. The first time I listened to The Condemned I was so taken with how adorable Charley and the Sixth Doctor were together that the D.I. got lost a little bit. I knew I really enjoyed her and was wishing throughout the audio that she would end up being a companion, but now? I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE her. She is so fantastically amazing with Six. The "interrogation" scene had me in stitches, particularly the whole bit with the funny haha versus funny peculiar. And then once they actually start working together it's magical. They seem to get a real kick out of each other and her amusement at the Doctor's antics create just the type of dynamic the Sixth Doctor needs with a companion. Someone who isn't gonna take his bullshit. And then there was her reaction to him calling her "Patricia", his reaction to Charley calling him about about not having mentioned that his "friend" was a lady...they are JUST SO GOOD together.
I think Patricia Menzies is now number one on the short-list of people that I would KILL to have become audio companions. And it really is a very short list. The only other people on it are Gemma and Samson from Terror Firma (yeah, I know they technically were companions, but WE never got to hear their adventures). D.I. Menzies would have been amazing in the TARDIS. I feel kind of cheated now that we are (almost certainly) never going to see her again. With Evelyn eventually leaving, and Charley having nearly run her course, she would have made SUCH a brilliant companion for the Sixth Doctor. ::sigh::
Now I just wish some of the brilliant fanfic writers out there would share my love for her and give me some AUs. "Menzies adventures in time and space." Damn, but that would be sweet.

on 2008-06-13 03:45 pm (UTC)The original plan to have Charley's travels with Six conclude with 'Blue Forgotten Planet' in December have been changed somewhat as revealed in the last issue of DWM by Nicholas Briggs -
''....The pairing of Colin and India has worked brilliantly. So Brilliantly in fact, that we have altered our upcoming plans for the range. I'm delighted to reveal that our original idea to conclude tis partnership in December has been postponed, with Blue Forgotten Planet now being pushed back into 2009. We've more stories to tell with these two. So, the December 2008 slot has now been filled by a story provisionally entitled The Raincloud Man...''
