So, this past saturday night I got pretty wasted. Not all that shocking or anything, but there it is. I get home around 3am, and being the responsible drinker that I am, I go get a glass of water (1/3 vitamin water with 2/3 tap water, my favorite drunk beverage) and put it next to my bed for when I invariably wake up during the night parched as hell. Only, I can't sleep. I'm tossing and turning for hours. Then what happens? One of my pillows knocks over the glass and sends the water flying in the direction of my laptop.

Yeah, you read that right.

So it's like 5:30 in the morning, I'm still wasted, and I'm trying to clean this shit up. It didn't actually seem that bad at the time, so I dried the computer off and went back to sleep.

Fast-forward to Sunday afternoon when I finally drag my hungover ass out of bed and turn the computer on. What do I discover? There is a HUGE BLOB OF LIGHTNESS ON THE WHOLE BOTTOM HALF OF THE SCREEN. It looks almost like there is water trapped between the screen and whatever's behind it. I can't even deal with how fucked up this is. I just know I am going to have to bring this to the apple store where they are then going to charge me hundreds of dollars to replace the screen and keep my computer hostage for days and days.

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!?!?!

I weep.

:( That sucks. My first laptop met its untimely death when I poured an entire glass of lemon cordial over it in my sleep. (To this day I am uncertain as to exactly how it happened...the glass was found sitting perfectly upright about a foot from my laptop and there was no cordial on my carpet, but I digress.)

I also wanted to comment to Hurrah over the fact that I appear to have another Mac wielding friend. I'm a Mac user at heart, and hope to join the ranks proper once I get my tax return at the beginning of next month.

Oh, macs kick ass. I wouldn't want to use one for work, but for play? They are the bestest computers in the world.

As for my drunken idiocy, I should just be glad that the computer seems to be working fine and it's only the screen that's fucked up. I really, really, really can't afford to be replacing a computer right now and this one is pretty new. ::sigh::

I can't even deal. It's one of those things that is so ridiculously f-ed up I just want to pretend it never happened. I need a nap.

Maybe less drunken binges are in your future?

Hard to say, really. I think the most I can hope for is to NOT PUT DRINKS NEXT TO THE BED. Because that alone would be a gigantic step in the right direction.

Oh no! I did the same thing a few months ago, although in my case the water got the keyboard. Luckily it didn't need replacing, but the computer shop still charged me an arm and a leg.
So no real ideas, but I feel your pain ...
