I told myself to wait until the date got closer, I really did. But I am weak when confronted with the opportunity to actually touch Frazer Hines. So, I bought my ticket for Jumpcon. I'm going to be there on Saturday, 8/2. And yes, I bought a ticket for the Frazer dinner. How could I not?

If anyone lives in the NY/NJ area and is planning to go to this con, let me know. I don't have any RL friends who care enough about DW to throw down a hundred bucks just to enable my obsessions.

Oh, and Van? I promise I will do my best not to end up in the back of a squad car with a restraining order against me. I wouldn't want to frighten him off of convention appearances. Fandom would kill me. ;-)

I'm actually from NY so all my family (and many friends) are still there. It's going to be a pain in the butt to get up there after work on friday, but at least I have plenty of places to stay.

The weirdest part? He's going to be at the DC jumpcon the following weekend but I'm going to be in Vegas at the Trek con. And honestly, I don't go to that many cons! I've been to maybe...5 in my whole life! What are the chances that I would need to make a special trip up to NY because I have con conflicts?!

Wow, two cons in two weekends! I haven't been to a con myself in many years -- like, maybe...ummm...15 years? And before that, not since I was a kid. I attended the first few Star Trek cons in NY in the 70s (I'm from NY, too).

Anyway, I'll check out my schedule. If I don't get back to you, feel free to ask me -- I get crazy busy with family stuff and things tend to fall between the cracks. But I really am interested in going. I love BSG, too.

Wow, two cons in two weekends!

I know! I'm gonna have total con burnout, but it will be SO worth it. The Vegas trek con is especially brilliant. Getting drunk at Quark's bar while wearing an original series uniform and hanging out with people in full Klingon dress? I don't care how much of a geek that makes me, just THINKING about it is getting me all misty-eyed. ;-)

But I really am interested in going. I love BSG, too.

I loved the first 2 seasons of BSG with the heat of a thousand suns. But then I kinda lost interest and haven't watched since the left New Caprica. That being said, those 2 should be a blast to see live. I'll definitely check in with you again when it gets closer to con time.

My biggest con claim to fame: I was in Gene Roddenberry's elevator for the Roddenberry vs. Shatner elevator races at the first (maybe second?) ever ST con. I was, like, ten. Treasured memory. So no, I won't be calling you a geek anytime soon. ;-)
