Oh, I *completely* agree! Crackfic is some of the greatest shit fandom has to offer.
I also like the idea of the story taking place sometime after they've developed a routine. The only other thing I'd want is a flashback to them first discovering the zombies. Because the idea of Nathan wanting to fly Pete to safety and Peter resisting because they need to SAVE people (said in his typical Nathan-manipulating tone) is just too good not to see. But the bulk of the story could be about them clinging to each other and doing what they can to save people and protect the survivors. Maybe it's a 28 days later kind of scenario where it's a virus and not true zombiism? Something the Company is responsible for, maybe? Just brainstorming.
