Top 5s. (Part 1)
Aug. 21st, 2009 01:03 pmStarting off, we have
persiflage_1 asking:
Top 5 Benny audios?
Top 5 non-Benny audios?
Top 5 Sapphire and Steel audios?
Benny audios:
Ok. I'm gonna do these in release order. But limiting to five is SOOOO HAAAARD. Because On No It Isn't is so f-ing brilliant. ::sigh::
1) Just War: I have a love/hate relationship with this audio. I think the storyline is magnificent, it's probably the best acting Lisa Bowerman (who I love more than anyone on earth as you well know) has ever done. But it's SO UNBELIEVABLY GUTWRENCHING that I can't just put it on and listen to it over and over like I do with so many other audios. Still, it's magnificent.
2) The Grel Escape: Fact - I love the Grel. I loooooooooooove the Grel. And this is their best appearance. Sophia is fantastic, Jason is hilarious, I just love the whole damn thing.
3) The Worst Thing in the World: Hello there, mind-controlled zombie chaps. This is a classic in every possible way. Butterflies and cake. Need I say more?
4) Summer of Love: Canonical sex pollen as written by Simon Guerrier. Period.
5) The Diet of Worms: If I actually admitted to anyone how many times I've listen to this audio, I would never be able to show my face in polite society again. A hint? I pretty much have it memorized. Hell, with cakes and buns. Fancy. Oh my god, I love this audio so much it's stupid.
Non-Benny:
This is a problem because what I would consider my favorites would make a list far longer than 5. So I'm cheating. This is a list of the BF audios I listen to the most often.
1) The Chimes of Midnight: I don't even think I really need to say anything about this one.
2) ...ish: Brilliant. Funny, exciting, Six and his epic love affair with the English language. J'adore.
3) The Wormery: Yeah. This is a weird one. But I kinda love Iris in this, I loooooove Bianca. And Six is f-ing brilliant as always.
4) Year of the Pig: I think this might be my single favorite DW audio. The acting is unparalleled and the storyline cracks me up. There are SOOOO many brilliant moments and utterly quotable lines. It's just a damn good time in every way.
5) The Magic Mousetrap: This is another one that I've listened to so many times it's scary. My single favorite Seventh Doctor audio. If only his were all like this.
Finally, Sapphire and Steel:
1) The Passenger: A magnificent set up. I was taken in immediately, and this audio made it SO easy to transition from the series to the new cast. Plus, Gold is probably my favorite character in the audios.
2) All Fall Down: Silver. Being awesome.
3) Water Like a Stone: Lisa Bowerman. Being awesome.
4) Perfect Day: I am so obvious. Again, Gold makes this audio the brilliant work it is. He is SUCH a fantastic character. Petty, ambitious, and so utterly, UTTERLY in love with Steel who couldn't give less of a crap about him. Ugh. SO GOOD.
5) Zero: This is the perfect audio. Perfect in every way. I can't even think of any other word to describe it. PERFECTION.

on 2009-08-21 06:29 pm (UTC)...ish is not given enough credit for being awesome. Six/English Language is really the true OTP.
More people need to watch Sapphire and Steel so that we can start a Gold Appreciation Society that would have more then two people.

on 2009-08-22 01:48 am (UTC)Hands down, though, the audio I've listened to repeatedly most often is Caerdroia. I want to figure out how to do a Welsh accent if only to repeat the lines of the desk clerk.

on 2009-08-22 01:57 am (UTC)I also do listen to Sword of Orion a lot. Another one that didn't make the list is Embrace the Darkness. Just good, solid Who.
