FIVEY FOR THE SAVE!

Oh, thank f-ing god. ANOTHER BRILLIANT BF AUDIO! I just listened to the latest Fifth Doctor outing, Time Reef/A Perfect World, and I loved the hell out of it. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED. Oh, Fivey. Oh, Nyssa. I AM FULL OF CAPSLOCKY JOY!!!



Ok, the main story was so damn good. This audio is the final part of the Thomas Brewster trilogy, and in Time Reef, the Doctor and Nyssa are forced to deal with the repercussions of what Brewster got up to when he was traveling around in the stolen TARDIS. This leads to some of the best pissed-off Fivey I've heard in QUITE some time and I swear, Peter Davison is just so good at that. The entire thing was so old skool. It really captured the feel of the Fifth-era tv series. More so than most audios. A real Enlightenment feel to the whole thing.

Also, I want to mention how much Sarah Sutton has improved. She was always ok, but damn. She has grown SO much with BF and I really noticed how wonderful her vocal range and her emotional expression were in this story. I don't want to give away any of the plot particulars, because they are too fun to ruin for you. But suffice it to say, I had a smile on my face the entire time. There were even a few belly laughs. A real treat.

The one-part story is when we actually say goodbye to Thomas and it was a lovely send-off.



And yes, there were MORE DAVISON/SUTTON extras! And yes, Peter was a snarky bitch and Sarah was crazy levels of awesome and I don't understand how those two are married to other people. They are SO IN LOVE. I know I'm not a huge RPS fan, but these interviews have made me ship Peter/Sarah, reality be damned.

I heart Nyssa- she's always been my favorite of the Fivey companion crew. Sounds like it might be a BFA I need to get ahold of.

I love Nyssa in the audios so much it's absurd. Even the weakest scripts are still made of joy for me because she and Five are so good together. I can't think of a single audio of theirs I wouldn't recommend. Just throw this one of the pile of awesome. ;-)

*skips spoilers* OMGYAY. I always get happy when a Five/Nyssa comes out. I definitely have audios from other parts of BF that I love, but they're the ones I consistently am drawn to listen to.

And I'm always really excited about people who play a dynamic I love having a fun relationship themselves. ...I'll go looking for it later, I'm too busy right now.

ETA: Fine, I read the spoilers. Enlightenment feel? I always loved how complex and edgy that was. <3 And pissed-off Fivey is always yayful. So is Nyssa. I was always receptive to Nyssa's range (if it was narrow, I always attributed it to the character's personality, which I think she's always captured well, and not at all an acting deficiency), but I'm curious as to what you mean.

Yes, I've always quite liked her. But somehow in this audio she came across more confident and comfortable than she's ever seemed before. Particularly in certain scenes that I will discuss with you AFTER you've listened. ;-)

Of course I'd always expect her to become stronger through practice. XD And yaaaaay. I really must get going. Gah, I have so especially little free time this week! :/ Wednesday or Thursday night, I guess.

I like the team of Five and Nyssa, but so far I've been underwhelmed by their audios. The writing has let them down, IMO. Of course, I haven't heard all of their stories yet but I've been through most of them and I wouldn't put any on my "favorites" list. Maybe this is the one, though? It sounds good, anyway. I hope I like it as much as you do!

Hmmmm. I'm sorry to say this probably won't be the audio that makes your top 10. I'm predisposed to loving anything Five/Nyssa, so I'm kind of easy. I mean it's good, but it's not a work of art. Definitely not anywhere near the quality of Spare Parts or Creatures of Beauty. But hell, listen to it anyway! You might just be looking for something different than me. ;-)

I liked Spare Parts but I hated Creatures of Beauty, so who knows where I'll fall on this one. I'll definitely give it a try. Actually, tomorrow I'm going to listen to "The Game" for the first time (I'm going through all of the BF material in random order) and maybe I'll love it.

Oh, yeah. CoB is definitely a divisive kinda audio. I'll be curious to hear what you think of The Game. It's not one I tend to re-listen to often, but I do like it.

I LOVE the send off they gave Thomas. I was all like 'huh? wtf?' AND THEN THEY MARRIED OFF A MALE COMPANION. FTW!
