My friend, the lovely and talented
outlaw_mel and I were discussing how excited we are for the new Birds of Prey series to be released on Wednesday. Which brought to mind the fact that I am incredibly disgusted by DC's reluctance to follow where Marvel and many independent comic publishers have already gone and make their comics available for digital download. I mean WHAT THE HELL? They are already losing a ton of revenue to people pirating copies of their stuff and honestly, I'd be more than happy to spend a LOT more money on comics if I could have them at the push of a button.
IMPULSE PURCHASING IS A BEAUTIFUL THING FOR BUSINESSES.
Anyway, I got my comic nerd rant on and MeL convinced me I should email DC Comics and tell them what I think.
Which I then...DID.
What makes this so weird is that I DON'T DO THAT. I am not the kind of person to write angry letters to companies. Or ANY letters, for that matter. And I certainly don't email companies to tell them how to run their business. But in this case? My nerd rage won out.
So, there you go. That has to be in the top 5 nerdiest things I've ever done simply for the fact that I actually signed my real name to an email telling a comic book company how to sell more comics.
