Getting to know me...
Jul. 5th, 2007 09:22 pmOk. This is a definite first for me, but what the hell. It was fun!
technosage quizzed me and here are my answers.
1. What's the name of one of your favorite restaurant and favorite meal there?
Ok. I'm gonna go snooty on this one. There is a restaurant called Picholine near Lincoln Center in Manhattan. I love it more than I can say. They have the single most amazing selection of cheeses in the universe. When you order a cheese course, the fromager brings over the cart and helps you choose a variety of different types, then pairs them with appropriate wines. They also bring fig cake, dates, red onion chutney, etc. as an accompaniment. I am never happier then when I am being pampered at a fine restaurant and I *never* get tired of that cheese and wine combo. Damn, but it's heaven on earth.
2. What was your favorite childhood toy?
I have a younger brother and he and I mostly had the same toys growing up. I think the ones we most enjoyed were the star wars action figures. We had EVERYONE. Even the ewoks in their ewok village and the band that played in Jabba's palace with their instruments. If we had only known how much that shit would be worth today we wouldn't have dumped it all when we got older. So sad.
And yes, I was a geek from way back...but a closet geek. No one ever guesses when they first meet me just how deep my geekiness runs. At least not until they see my collection of action figures still in their boxes and the picture of me with William Shatner. HA! Oh, how I love my scifi. ;-)
3. Chutes N' Ladders or Monopoly?
Chutes n' ladders. Absolutely. Monopoly always makes me so sad! I can't stand bankrupting my friends and loved ones. One of my best friends described me as having a hard candy shell but a gooey center, and she's so right. I'm a sarcastic bitch but a TOTAL softy. Monopoly is just too cut-throat for me.
4. Your favorite episode of Heroes, why?
EEEEEE! That is SUCH a hard question!!! I actually just spent the last few night rewatching some of my favorite moments from the series. It's amazing how different the early scenes with Bennet are when you watch them knowing who he really is. But my favorite episode? Hmmmm. I'd have to go with Distractions. It had some very weak aspects to it, but it also had these 2 scenes:
1) Claude throws Peter off a building. That might be my favorite bit in the entire season. I love Chris Eccleston with the heat of a thousand suns, and he rocked that part SO hard. The look on Peter's face when he realizes what happened, the casual glee when Claude sees that Peter managed not to die...I just ate that up. Not to mention the knock out punch and the "well, it's a start." JOY!
2) The Nathan is Claire's daddy reveal. I wanted that to be the case SOOOO badly, but then I thought it wasn't going to happen and they'd been playing us, and then BAM. I was screaming my head off when that ep ended.
So, I'd say it's probably my favorite.
5. One thing I would never think to ask, but would tell me a lot about you. :)
Ok. I'm actually gonna give you a hat trick. 3 random facts about me:
1) I volunteer at the Reptile House at the zoo because I think reptiles are just the most bad ass creatures ever and the zoo actually lets me play with snakes. It's crazy.
2) After college but before law school I traveled around most of Europe by myself. Met a lot of amazing people, saw lots of incredible shit. I doubt I will ever again be that free.
3) My first love was Princess Leia. I thought she was the most bad ass chick EVER. She was a leader, and knew how to use weapons, and was respected by everyone. I just couldn't get enough. I think she's always been the model of the perfect powerful woman for me. (The gold bikini debacle notwithstanding.) Yeah, Han Solo is a major hottie and I've come to appreciate his charms (and don't even get me started on Ewan's Obi-Wan), but as a kid? It was ALL about Leia.
So, that's me in a rather random nutshell. I'm not sure who reads this LJ, but if there is anyone out there interested in joining in the fun, here are...
THE RULES:
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
