The LJ related events of the last week or so got me doing a lot of thinking about fandom, and my own contributions to it. For me, fandom revolves almost entirely around fan fiction. Sure, I enjoy a good meta as much as the next gal, I'll read an interview here and there, and picspams are delightful. But from the day I got my first computer and discovered this amazing thing called "the internet", I've been devouring fan fiction for every show I've ever loved, and even a few I never really cared for (yeah, Sports Night and The Sentinel, I'm looking at you).

Problem is? I can't write fiction to save my life. So, I've tried to contribute in other ways. I comment on stories, offer praise and support, and have even been lucky enough to become close friends with a brilliant writer after falling in love with her talent.

Which leads me back to the reason for this inaugural post. I have decided to start using this LJ as a rec page. I'll begin with the fandoms I am currently addicted to like Heroes, Supenatural, and Stargate:Atlantis. Then, I'll start adding in older and more obscure fandoms later on. Sure, I know there are a ton of rec pages around, especially for the larger fandoms. And no, I have no idea if anyone will even read this. But I look at it this way.

If I can lead even a single person to a single incredible story they hadn't read before, than it will be completely worth the effort.
