I just downloaded this last night and, shockingly enough, I enjoyed the HELL out of it. I'm listening to it again right now. I've made no secret of the fact that I haven't enjoyed the 8th Doctor with Lucie nearly as much as I loved him with Charlie, mainly because I don't think McGann and Smith have any chemistry. But this latest audio is probably my favorite in the line so far.



I think what made this audio work so well for me is that Lucie and the Doctor spend most of it apart. I actually do enjoy Sheridan Smith in the role, but I'm just not sold on her relationship with the Doctor, so having the two of them separated was great. Especially because the main guest actor was AMAZING. Alexander Siddig plays Rosto, a "10 foot tall centipede thing" who also happens to be a police officer.

TEN FOOT TALL CENTIPEDE COP FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING WIN, PEOPLE!!!!

He is so insanely awesome I can't stand it. If he became a companion I would flip my shit. A TARDIS team made up of Eight, Lucie, and a giant bug Space Marshall would be one of the greatest things of all time.

Anyway, he's fabulous. His chemistry with Sheridan is fantastic and the storyline really works. Plus, I think McGann does some of his best work in a while in this one. He's seemed a little bored in the role lately, but when he confronts the Sisterhood of Karn (old skool continuity ROCKS) he is on fire again. It's such a joy to hear. It does end on a cliffhanger, so I can understand waiting until the second part comes out next month to listen to the whole thing, but seriously this audio is GREAT.

Alexander Siddig has looong been at the top of my list for Eleven. (In fact, I think he could have played Ten as written and made me love him, because, well, depth.)

Now I'm going to have to check this out! Where does one download these things?!

You can get them right off the BF site and they are soooooo reasonably priced. Their download service has been a godsend because I hate cds (no where to put all the damn things) and I have no patience for waiting for that shit to come in the mail. As for Siddig, I'm not kidding when I say I would kill for this character to become a companion. It's such a subtle and brilliant performance. I mean he really SOUNDS AND ACTS LIKE A 10 FOOT TALL CENTIPEDE! And yet, he's funny and cool and smart and just generally awesome. If you do end up listening to it, let me know what you think.
