Ok. I surrender. I watched 3 more episodes of Ashes to Ashes last night and I am totally hooked. The costuming, the music, the cinematography, the acting, all fantastic. The writers fascination with being as offensive as possible is still pretty pathetic, but the characters and actors manage to overcome that and be incredibly compelling. I absolutely ADORE the fact that Alex is drunk all the time, and dresses like a tart, and sleeps with random losers, and calls her co-workers "figments", and is so desperate for her mother's approval, and EVERYTHING really. I just love Alex Drake.

I have also discovered that Gene Hunt is a more complex and sympathetic character than he appeared at first glance. He's still a complete fuckstick most of the time, but he's interesting and engaging and has flashes of being a better man. This show totally has me. I mean, shit. I've got an icon already. I think that really says it all.

Yes! Her reactions are just so human. A lot of denial, a lot of frustration, and a lot of self-destructive nonsense. She makes me so happy. Especially when you can see her enjoyment in getting to wear such cool ass outfits. ;-)

I'm so so so so happy that other people love her too! I read somewhere that Keeley got some shit for her acting from reviewers in the papers and I can't believe that. I think she's absolutely incredible.
