Ok. Here's the thing.

I have all of a sudden become completely obsessed with Effie Trinket. Movie Effie. Amazing outfits Effie. I haven't read the Hunger Games books, I don't know how much Elizabeth Banks' performance differs, but HOLY HELL I love her in the movie. I have also discovered that I ship her with Haymitch. As I have no connection to any sort of fandom here, I have no idea if this is a popular pairing or what. Don't care either.

What I do care about, and the reason I have popped in to say hello again ("Hello again!") is that it's been ages since I had even the slightest inkling of an idea how to go about finding good fanfic.

So. Can anyone help me? I want some good, dark, dark, dirty fanfic. For Effie. And Haymitch.

Anyone?

Holy crap, she's my favorite too! I need to find the hunger games because my daughter owns the second and third book, and I've seen the movie but I'd like to read the trilogy, yk? But Effie is hands down my favorite. I want to read the books and then RP her so much.

I probably won't read the books because I'm so attached the movie versions of these characters at this point, but DAMN is Effie the coolest. And Haymitch. And Cinna. And pretty much every scene that takes place in the capital. Because OUTFITS! Holy shit, outfits and wigs and makeup and it's every fashion candyfloss nightmare explosion of awesome I've ever dreamed about right on my screen.

But yes. I will most definitely point you in the direction of fic if I ever find any. Also, how are you?! I've missed you!

Overall I'm good. Right at this moment though I just had a molar pulled (surgical extraction) and then because I'm management it's my job to go into work to cover the shift so that's shit.

The first book is almost identical to the movie, to be honest. It's one of the only movie adaptations I've seen where reading the book adds to the movie and watching the movie adds to the book, without there being any major differences to jar you out of either of them. :)

As for fic recs, try this one when it comes to Effie/Haymitch. It's book-based, but -- like I said -- the book and movie canons really are almost identical.

For the record, I definitely recommend reading the books at some point. Other than Haymitch's physical appearance (in the books, characters from the Seam -- like Katniss, Gale, and Haymitch -- and characters from the District 12 merchant class -- like Peeta, Primrose, and Katniss's mother -- each have a very specific physical appearance; movie!Haymitch's appearance is more like the merchant class than the Seam), the movie did an amazing job with casting.

ETA: Maybe you can help me since you know these stories so well. I am obsessing about the capital citizens. What are they like? What do they think? What do they do all day? Are they professionals? Are they educated? What does the average capital citizen actually think about the games or about the way the people in the districts live? THIS is what I am curious about more than anything. Do the books give any insight?
