I just hit a whole new level of nerdiness.

My friend, the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] outlaw_mel and I were discussing how excited we are for the new Birds of Prey series to be released on Wednesday. Which brought to mind the fact that I am incredibly disgusted by DC's reluctance to follow where Marvel and many independent comic publishers have already gone and make their comics available for digital download. I mean WHAT THE HELL? They are already losing a ton of revenue to people pirating copies of their stuff and honestly, I'd be more than happy to spend a LOT more money on comics if I could have them at the push of a button.

IMPULSE PURCHASING IS A BEAUTIFUL THING FOR BUSINESSES.

Anyway, I got my comic nerd rant on and MeL convinced me I should email DC Comics and tell them what I think.

Which I then...DID.

What makes this so weird is that I DON'T DO THAT. I am not the kind of person to write angry letters to companies. Or ANY letters, for that matter. And I certainly don't email companies to tell them how to run their business. But in this case? My nerd rage won out.

So, there you go. That has to be in the top 5 nerdiest things I've ever done simply for the fact that I actually signed my real name to an email telling a comic book company how to sell more comics.

Who AM I?

It'll be interesting to see what response you get.

If I get any. I thought it was a pretty well-written and well-reasoned email, so hopefully I'll get SOMETHING.

In the meanwhile, watching DC lose out to Marvel this way hurts my soul. ;-)

Is it Babs doing the biting? Either way, I fully support this notion.

Who AM I?

THE BATMAN.

That would explain a lot.

Yes like your fetish for men wearing brightly coloured tights.

I ASKED YOU NOT TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. Damn it, woman.

What can you expect from a villain? It's my job to thwart and foil.

Honey, you've been to umpteen Dr. Who cons... And THIS one little e-mail is geeky?! ;)

But really. DC isn't going to change unless they see the need for change, and the best way to get them to be proactive about this stuff is by showing them where you're hitting them in the pocketbook. Who knows if you'll get a reply or not, but I wanna hear it if you do.

GO ELYSSA. You are fangirl, hear you roar. <3

HAHAHAHA. YES! We all judge our geekiness differently. I think emailing comic book publishers? SUPER FUCKING NERDY.

No, I can't explain it, but it has a level of nerd-rage in it that I have never really given in to before.

But you're right! You're obviously right or I wouldn't have written it. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'm merely one email in a sea of emails demanding digital downloads. <3
