Actual fannish content!

Insane, I know!

But I just listened to the latest companion chronicle, The Magician's Oath and I want to talk about it because, shockingly enough...I LOVED IT!

I'm not a huuuuge fan of the CCs because I find them a lot more difficult to concentrate on than full-cast audios. Plus, I looooooathe Mike Yates. That's what makes this so insane. This might be one of the best CCs I've listened to it's the one of probably my least favorite character in DW history.

But holy HELL, Richard Franklin knocked this shit out of the park. The story is good, nothing spectacular, but his performance had me hooked from beginning to end.

I highly recommend this one. And even if I still can't fucking STAND Yates, I think I have a whole new appreciation for the actor.

Whoa. Thank you for the rec; I think I'm just going to have to check this out.

You're welcome. I hope I didn't set it up to be disappointing, but honestly. His performance was excellent.

I loved the Magician's Oath. The end sent chills down my spine. Tho, I like Yates. ^__^

It really was SO good.

Ooh, I've been waiting for this one - although what characters does it feature apart from Yates and Three?

Mmmmm...mostly Yates. Jo and the Brig play roles, but it's HIS story.

Ooh, I was hoping that was the answer. But since Big Finish are currently doing Seven & Ace & Hex stories, which I have to buy, anything else will have to wait a couple of months anyway.

MIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE <3333333333. If you who doesn't like him liked it, then I HAVE TO listen to it, and I've never paid much attention to the companion chronicles being there (something about the whole thing being one person talking).

Strange, I used to adore Yates. My appreciation of him didn't fully survive what I heard about some inappropriate, if not abusive, behavior on Richard Franklin's part, though. Shouldn't have influenced my reaction to the character, but it did. (Which is sad, because I saw him at a con in 1985 and almost died laughing at his performance of "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me A Bow-Wow.")

Anyway! I think I'll look into acquiring this, if you love it despite hating the character.
